infusing textiles with the radiant colours found in nature system demonstrates the human instinct for creating beauty. we love beautiful things. beauty lifts us up out of the mundane into the light.
different cultures have long developed localized methods of drawing out the colours from a plethora of locally available fruits, leaves, soil and wood. many of these methods are extremely sensitive to their environments and don't place a heavy toxic load on water ways the way chemical-based modern processes do.
and some of the coolers are truly amazing. deep, rich blues and shimmering mustardy yellows….mmmmm delicious! and so…sensible.
fusing good, old common sense with technical innovation is what we'ar all about so these natural dying processes called for further investigations. we set off on some fine adventures to find out how it was best done and then to start doing it ourselves!
